    Waist Circumference

Waist circumference is used to assess central fat distribution and abdominal obesity. Body shape and where fat is stored on your body increases a person’s risk of developing heart disease, Type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure and some forms of cancer. A high waist circumference increases triglycerides, blood glucose, and blood pressure. To decrease your risk of developing a chronic health condition, the National Institute of Health recommends a waist measurement of less than 35 inches for women and 40 inches for men.
